ABA School Services

Our ABA consultation involves functional behavior assessments (FBA) that identify challenging behaviors and triggers, enabling us to determine the functions behind the target actions. This process helps our trainers provide professional development training on handling individual disabilities or strengths for children who may be struggling academically.

FBA/BIP

A functional behavior assessment (FBA) is a form of assessment used in ABA that involves identifying challenging behaviors, identifying potential triggers to behaviors, and determining the functions of the target problem behaviors. Following this, a behavior intervention plan (BIP) is created based on the results of the FBA in order to establish a plan that details how to decrease challenging behaviors through utilization of antecedent strategies and behavior reduction interventions as well as teaching replacement behaviors. FBAs are conducted by BCBAs and other professional individuals in the field of ABA. FBAs may be conducted for students with or without IEPs as a comprehensive tool to assess and analyze challenging behaviors in the school setting. For students already with BIPs, an FBA can be utilized to evaluate the effectiveness of current BIPs. As a follow-up option, our BCBAs can attend IEP meetings to go over the FBA results and/or provide staff training as needed in order to ensure that the BIP is implemented with fidelity.

PD Trainings

PAL BCBA PD trainers provide professional development (PD) trainings to professionals in the field of ABA and/or education. PAL BCBA PD trainers have a wide range of professional expertise as they have worked in positions such as teachers, behavior consultants, adjunct professor, clinical supervisors, assistant director of education, and more. Our experiences allow us to thoroughly cover various  topics such as classroom management, behavior support strategies, teaching strategies (e.g., math/reading fluency, discrete trial training, natural environment teaching, etc.), and how to use research based protocols to induce missing skills in learners (Greer & Ross, 2008). We provide PD training in school settings and clinic based settings. Our PDs have helped clinicians and educators (e.g., teachers, paraprofessionals, SLPs, school admin, etc.) improve their overall quality of service towards their students/clients. We run our PDs in an interactive manner to keep the staff engaged! Contact us to inquire about our PD training services.

RBT Assessments

PAL offers supervision to aspiring Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) by our experienced clinical staff, with a focus on verbal behaviors and teaching techniques. Our PAL Supervisors have provided high-quality training for trainees; we provide supervision in the form of lectures pertaining to the content found in the 5th edition Task list. We teach our trainees about verbal behavior protocols (Greer & Ross, 2008) and teaching techniques and strategies based on Skinner’s verbal behavior.

Classroom Management Consultation

Classroom Management Consultation PAL lead clinicians provide classroom management consultation to support teachers to increase student engagement and participation while decreasing students’ maladaptive behaviors. The consultation includes meeting with school staff to discuss problems/concerns for the classroom, direct observation(s) of the classroom, data collection, and development of a strategic plan for classroom management. PAL clinicians create classroom management plans using evidence-based strategies and tactics based on principles of behavior with emphasis on positive reinforcement. Once a plan is created, our BCBAs will model and train the plan for classroom staff to follow. After the initial training, bimonthly/monthly check-ins are conducted for treatment integrity and maintenance.

Staffing Services

PAL agency provides staffing services for schools in need of classroom aides or paraprofessionals to support students with IEPs, 504 plans, and/or behavior intervention plans (BIPs). Staffing service is also available for general education classrooms in need of additional aid in the areas of behavior management and emotional support. All of PAL’s staff are required to work towards their Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification (see RBT assessment for more information). Initial and ongoing training will be provided by our BCBAs to ensure high-quality services are delivered to students. Staffing service is available anytime throughout the school year as well as during the extended school year.
